Commitment to Community

Schutz Optical is affiliated with Erie Community College (ECC) and their Vision Care Technology (VCT) Department. Schutz Optical offers clinical placements for Opticianry students where they gain valuable optical service experience prior to graduation. In 1996, Dr. Hornberger Sr. joined forces with the Friends of the Night People Clinic, located on Hudson St. in Buffalo, where he built upon the already established FnOP free medical clinics adding the element of optometry and optical prescription services to individuals in need in the Western New York community. Dr. Hornberger, Sr. continues to travel with Doctors Without Borders and filling a worldwide need with his commitment to Optometry. Dr. Sr. and his therapy dog Max, a yellow Labrador, bring the gift of time and compassion as they visit local hospitals and nursing homes.
